Gebogan is one of the most important offerings in every major Balinese ritual and certainly has a deep meaning and philosophy. The importance of Gebogan can be seen from its towering shape that resembles a mountain. The higher the shape, the sharper the edges. At the top are sampian and canang made of janur with colourful fresh flowers symbolising the colours of the gods. Gebogan is a form of gratitude to Ida Sang hyang Widhi for all the favours and gifts he has given to the universe and everything in it that is very meaningful for human life. In Balinese Hinduism, it does not matter how big or large the gebogan is, whether big or small, it is valuable and worthy if it is made and presented with wholeness.
